Police named deceased in Hyde Park Corner RTC as appeal for witnesses continues

Detectives investigating a fatal road traffic collision in Hyde Park Corner have named the deceased as they continue to appeal for witnesses.

Officers were called on Thursday, 22 August at 03:14hrs to a report of a collision between a car and pedestrian at Hyde Park Corner.

The emergency services attended and found a pedestrian seriously injured.

He was declared dead at the scene.

His family have given permission for him to be named as Charles Roberts, 66, from Hertfordshire.

The driver of the car, a purple Rolls Royce, stopped after the collision.

There have been no arrests.

Enquiries continue.

Detective Constable Chris May of the SCIU, said: “This is very busy section of road and I am sure there would be a number of people who witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it. I would ask those people to contact police and in particular anyone who was in the area and may have dash cam footage. Your information could be vital in helping us understand the cause of this tragic incident.”
