The body of a man has been recovered from the Thames

Police were called on Tuesday, 23 July at 20:30hrs to the Thames at Waterloo Bridge to a report of a person in difficulty in the water.

Officers and the Marine Policing Unit (MPU) conducted searches of the water and surrounding area with no trace.

At 21:20hrs on Thursday, 25 July, police received a report of a body sighted in the water by Canary Wharf.

Officers from the MPU recovered the body and the deceased was identified as missing person, Menelik Hudnall Addo Mimano. Mr Mimano’s family has been notified.

Police believe that the person reported to have entered the water at Waterloo Bridge was Menelik Hudnall Addo Mimano.

Due to Mr Mimano having been the subject of a missing person inquiry when he died, the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been notified.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

We await formal identification. A file will be prepared for HM's Coroner.
