Two arrested in connection with murder investigation

Detectives investigating the murder of Dean Edwards who was found shot in Penge, on Sunday, 12 July, have made further arrests.

A 30-year-old man [B] and a 22-year-old man [C] were arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday, 12 October.

[B] was also arrested on suspicion of a section 5 firearm offence (possession of a CS canister) and [C] was also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs.

They were taken to a London police station where they remain in custody. 

Dean, 43, was walking through Betts Park on his way home from meeting his friends for a drink and was about to leave the park via the Croydon Road exit, when he was shot in the back of the head.

CCTV footage has shown that Dean left the pub at 23:50hrs on Saturday, 11 July and started making his way home.

He then entered Betts Park at 00:15hrs and was walking towards the Croydon Road exit near the Tremaine Road junction, when he was shot sometime between 00:15hrs and 01:00hrs.

Subsequently, police were called to the location by the London Ambulance Service at 02:20hrs and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers from the Specialist Crime South Command are investigating.
