Two men charged with murder of Bradley Hutchins in New Addington

Two men have been charged with the murder of 20-year-old Bradley Hutchins and the attempted murder of another 19-year-old man.

Shane Canavan, 22 (15.04.01) and Josha Langley (27.10.95), both of Purley CR8, were charged on 18 September with murder, attempted murder and possession of pointed and bladed articles.

They appeared in custody at Bromley Magistrates Court on 19 September and have been remanded to appear at the Old Bailey on 21 September.

These charges come after police were called at about 18:00hrs on Tuesday, 12 September to reports of people fighting on North Walk in New Addington.

After the attack, both victims made their way to New Addington London Ambulance base located a short distance away. Both men had sustained stab wounds.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, and the assistance of members of the London Fire Brigade, Bradley Hutchins’ life could not be saved and he was pronounced dead on scene.

His family are being supported by specialist officers.

A post-mortem examination gave the provisional cause of death as stab wounds to the torso.

The second man, aged 19, was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A 20-year-old man, who was initially arrested as part of the investigation has now been eliminated from police inquiries. No further action will be taken.
