Detectives investigating the murder of a man found dead in Chingford are preparing a file for the coroner after a woman arrested on suspicion of murder died from burn injuries in hospital.
Officers were called at 13:12hrs on Tuesday, 19 February to a residential address on Genever Close, E4.
The London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service also attended.
Brian Wieland, who was 69 and resided at the address, was found dead inside the premises.
A post-mortem examination was held on Thursday, 21 February at Walthamstow Mortuary, and cause of death was given as multiple head injuries.
His next of kin have been informed.
A 51-year-old woman who also lived at the same address in Genever Close, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.
She had been found at the scene with serious burns and was taken to an east London hospital.
She was subsequently transferred to a specialist burns unit in Essex where she died from her injuries on Friday, 19 April. She has now been formally identified as 51-year-old Myrtella Williams.
Separate inquests will take place at Walthamstow Coroner’s Court.
The inquest for Myrtella begins on Thursday, 5 December and the inquest for Mr Wieland will take place on Friday, 6 December.
The matter will now be placed before a coroner to decide cause of death for both individuals.
