Victim of Dagenham collision named as police renew appeal for information

Police investigating a fatal collision in Dagenham have named the victim as Gediminas Valionis.

The 36-year-old man, a Lithuanian national, died after being involved in a collision on the A13 at around 03:50hrs on Sunday, 15 September.

His next of kin are aware. A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as multiple injuries.

The vehicle involved in the collision did not stop at the scene but the driver, a 39-year-old man, returned to the location a short time later.

He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.

He was taken into custody and later released under investigation.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the incident.
