Witness appeal following fatal collision in North Cheam

Officers are appealing for witnesses following the death of a pedestrian following a collision in south London.

Police were called at 18:16hrs on Thursday, 17 November, to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Courtenay Road, North Cheam.

Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the pedestrian, a 78-year-old man, died at the scene.

He has since been identified as Juan Veiga-Vidal from Sutton. His family have been informed and are being supported by officers.

The car failed to stop at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to locate the driver.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
