Appeal after man left with serious facial injuries

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault in Canning Town.

An investigation was launched after officers were called to reports of a fight involving two men on Barking Road, E16 at approximately 22:00hrs on Tuesday, 16 January.

One man, aged 48, suffered a facial injury and continues to receive treatment following damage to his eye.

A 27-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault – he has been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in mid-April.

Detective Constable Charlotte Saward leads the investigation and said: “It appears this was a dispute that stemmed from a parking incident and escalated into violence. We know there were several people who were in Barking Road and witnessed this incident – if you’ve not yet come forward to speak to us then please do so immediately.”

Anyone who can help is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD 7170/16Jan.

You can also provide information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
