Appeal following fatal collision in East Ham
Officers are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the A13.
Police were called at 17:38hrs on Tuesday, 7 July to reports of a collision between a car and a motorcycle on Newham Way.
Officers attended the scene, which was at the junction of Woolwich Manor Way with the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade.
The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital in critical condition but sadly died later that evening. His next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
The driver of the car, a 27-year-old man, did not sustain injuries and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in custody.
Detective Inspector Mark Braithwaite, from the Met's Road and Transport Policing command, said:
“Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of victim at this extremely difficult time.
“As we try to build up a full picture of the incident, we want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has any relevant information, particularly anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage.”
