Appeal following homophobic hate crime in Hackney

Police investigating a hate crime in Hackney have released an image of a man they wish to speak to.

Officers are continuing to investigate after a 23-year-old man was subjected to homophobic abuse and assaulted in Broadway Market in the early hours of Saturday, 4 July.

The London Ambulance Service attended the scene, and the victim attended hospital at a later date for an injury to his face.

PC Jack Hiew of Stoke Newington Police Station said: “We recognise the impact that this incident has had on the victim, and he continues to be supported by specialist LGBT+ liaison officers.

“We’ve conducted various enquiries in an attempt to identify the suspect, and we’re now appealing for the public’s help.

“Anyone who recognises this man is asked to contact us via 101, quoting CAD reference 4508/26AUG26. You can also report information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
