Appeal following sexual assault on a bus in Walthamstow

Detectives have re-released an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with a sexual assault that took place on a bus in Walthamstow on Tuesday, 26 September 2023.

The incident occurred when the victim, a 12-year-old female, got on the bus at approximately 08:15hrs on Fulbourne Road, E17.

It is alleged that the suspect sat next to the victim and asked sexual questions before stroking her leg.

Officers have carried out extensive enquiries and are now re-circulating an image of a man they wish to trace and speak to in connection with the alleged offence.

The man was described as wearing a black baseball cap worn backwards and what appears to be a leather jacket. He is a black man in his sixties with a black and grey short beard.

Superintendent Charles Clare, from the local policing team in north east London, said: "I am appealing to the public for information on who this man might be as we wish to speak to him about the incident that took place on the 212 bus.

“We believe the suspect is aged in his 60s and we are working to urgently identify him. Anyone who can help us find the man in the image should contact us immediately."
