Appeal for information following rape in Teddington
Detectives investigating the rape of a woman in Teddington are releasing images of a man they wish to speak to.
An investigation was launched at around 01:30hrs on Monday, 21 October 2024, after it was reported that a 19-year-old woman had been raped hours before at a residential address in Prince’s Road, Teddington.
Detectives carried out urgent enquiries, including the review of CCTV and doorbell camera footage and forensic examinations.
These enquiries remain ongoing, however police are now in the position to release an image of a man they would like to speak with in connection with this investigation.
Detective Constable Felicity Briggs, who is leading the Met’s investigation, said: “I’d like to firstly commend the bravery of the victim in this case, who we have continued to support alongside our partner agencies.
“Since the launch of the investigation, our team have worked hard, examining all the available evidence, to identify the man responsible and hold him accountable.
“We remain determined to do everything we can to secure justice for the young woman involved. I am appealing directly to the public to support our investigation and please contact us if you recognise this man.”
Anyone who knows who the man is, or has information that could assist the investigation, is asked to contact police quoting reference 01/985471/24. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their website, www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
Keeping women and girls safe is one of the Met’s top priorities and in the last year the Met has more than doubled its positive outcomes, including arrests and charges for rape. These statistics reflect the determination of officers and partners to pursue offenders and bring them to justice.
