Man arrested in connection with sexual assault in Edgware

A man has been arrested in connection with an incident in which a woman was dragged from the street and sexually assaulted by a stranger in north London.

The man, aged in his 20s was arrested in Warrington on Saturday, 29 June. He was transported to London and remains in custody.

The arrest follows an incident at 22:25hrs on Thursday, 27 June when a member of the public reported that a woman had been found partially clothed in Manor Park Gardens in Edgware.

The victim, aged in her 20s, was walking along the road when an unknown man who was hiding in a garden, jumped out and dragged her into the garden, before sexually assaulting her.

The victim continues to be supported by specialist officers.

Detectives investigating the incident issued a public appeal for information, which led to the arrest yesterday. A number of other enquiries continue, although officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
