Arrest made after video showing cyclist brandishing knife in Bethnal Green

A man has been arrested after police received calls about a person on a bicycle brandishing a knife in Bethnal Green.

Police received calls from concerned members of the public, as well as being tagged into videos posted on social media, after a man was seen in the area of Middleton Green Park, E2 at around 19:00hrs on Sunday, 21 July.

Officers rushed to the scene but the person had gone. There were no reports of any injuries.

After studying the footage and speaking to witnesses, a 25-year-old man was identified and arrested on Tuesday, 23 July on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and being concerned in the supply of drugs. He remains in custody.
