Former officer would have been dismissed had he still been serving

A Misconduct hearing on Tuesday, 16 April 2024 found that a former officer would have been dismissed if he were still serving.

Former PC Mokbul Hussain, previously attached to the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command, resigned from the Metropolitan Police on 20 December 2023.

At an accelerated misconduct hearing he was found to have breached the standards of professional behaviour at the level of gross misconduct in relation to discreditable conduct and honesty and integrity.

This follows former PC Hussain having sent text messages to someone known to him confirming that he had viewed road traffic collision reports involving that person and advising them on a course of action.

The chair, Assistant Commissioner Matt Twist found the allegations of discreditable conduct’ and honesty and integrity’ proven as gross misconduct.

Had he still been serving former PC Hussain would have been dismissed without notice.

Detective Superintendent Christina Jessah leading the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command said: “We expect a high level of integrity from our officers and former PC Hussain fell short of that standard.”

He will now be added to the Barred List held by the College of Policing. Those appearing on the list cannot be employed by police, local policing bodies (PCCs), the Independent Office for Police Conduct or His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.
