Man arrested after fatal Sidcup assault

A man has been arrested following a fatal assault in Sidcup.

Police were called around 01.00hrs on Monday, 25 May to reports of an assault outside a public house in Station Road.

A 50-year-old man was found unconscious at the scene and taken to hospital. He sadly died on Saturday, 30 May.

The victim has now been named as 50-year-old Stuart Tickner.

His next of kin are aware, and are being supported by specially-trained officers.

Superintendent Kier Newman, of the South East Borough Command Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones following this tragic incident.

“The initial assault occurred outside a public house on a residential road, and we are keen to speak to anyone in the area who witnessed anything.”

On Tuesday, 26 May, a 36-year-old man presented at hospital, where he was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in hospital.
