Man arrested in connection with murder of Okechukwu Iweha in Haringey

Detectives investigating the murder of Okechukwu Iweha in Haringey have made an arrest.

A 28-year-old man was arrested in Croydon on Monday, 22 April on suspicion of murder. He was taken to a north London police station where he remains at this time.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, from the Specialist Crime Command, is leading the investigation. He said: “While we have made an arrest and our investigation is making good progress, we are still keen to hear form anyone who has information – no matter how small a detail it may seem, please do get in touch.

Police were called at 05:51hrs on Sunday, 7 April to Worcester Avenue, junction with Northumberland Park N17, after a man was found unresponsive.

Officers attended with London Ambulance Service paramedics. On arrival they found 46-year-old Okechukwu Iweha suffering stab injuries. CPR was administered but despite the best efforts of emergency services, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Okechukwu’s family continue to be supported by specialist officers. A post-mortem held on 10 April at Haringey Mortuary gave cause of death as a stab wound to chest

On Wednesday, 10 April, a 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. He has since been released with no further action.
