Man charged with arson attack on memorial wall

A man has been charged with arson following an attack on a memorial wall in Golders Green.

Ali Reza Fallahi 45 (15.07.80) a dual British and Iranian national of Ilford, has been charged with arson contrary to sections 1(1), 1(3) and 4 of the Criminal Damage Act 1971.

He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 18 June.

The charge relates to a Counter Terrorism Policing London investigation into an arson attack on a memorial wall in Limes Avenue, NW11, at around 00:15hrs on Monday, 27 April. Police received a report of the fire at around 19:30hrs the same day.

The wall contains pictures of people who were allegedly killed by the Iranian state in January.

Commander Helen Flanagan, head of CTP London, said: “This charge marks another step forward in one of the investigations into the series of arson attacks targeting the Jewish community and Iranian diaspora in London.

“We are determined to bring everyone involved in these incidents to justice.

“As always, I ask the public to remain vigilant and to contact police if you are concerned and feel something isn’t right.”

A 38-year-old woman who was also arrested in connection with the arson at the memorial wall has been released with no further action.
