Man charged with GBH following attack on Mussie Imnetu

A man will appear in court tomorrow in relation to the attack on Mussie Imnetu in the vicinity of Notting Hill Carnival on Monday.

Omar Wilson, 31 (19.02.93) of Napier Road, Leytonstone was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning on suspicion of attempted murder.

On Thursday he was charged with causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent and was remanded to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 30 August.

At 23:22hrs on Monday, officers who were deployed as part of the Notting Hill Carnival policing operation became aware of a man who was unconscious with a head injury in Queensway, W2. They provided emergency first aid until paramedics arrived.

The man, later identified as 41-year-old Mussie who was visiting the UK from Dubai, was taken to a west London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command continue to appeal for anyone with information about the incident, or Mussie’s movements earlier in the day, to come forward.
