Man charged with Lambeth murder
Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Lambeth have charged a man.
On Thursday, 1 January at 20:00hrs, officers attended an address on Bondway, Lambeth, following a welfare concern for a man.
Police sadly discovered the body of Kaleem Shaik, 41, inside the property.
He was an Indian national. His family, who live in India, have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Daniel Levy, 48 (05.12.1977) of Bondway, Lambeth, was charged with murder on Saturday, 3 January after being arrested on Thursday, 1 January.
He appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on the same day and was remanded in custody to appear next at the Old Bailey on Monday, 5 January.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Clarke, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts are with Kaleem’s family at this very difficult time.
“My team is not currently seeking any additional suspects in relation to this tragic incident. We understand the concern this will have caused the local community and residents can expect to see an increased police presence over the coming days.”
