Man charged with multiple child sex offences

An investigation by detectives into a series of online sexual offences involving teenage children between December 2023 and February 2024 has resulted in a man being charged with multiple offences.

On Tuesday, 12 March, Sam Phillips, 27 (7.04.96), of Sutton, was charged with 11 counts including making indecent images of children.

He appeared in custody at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 13 March.

He will next appear in custody at Harrow Crown Court on Wednesday, 10 April.

Breakdown of charges:

- One count of cause incite a girl to engage in penetrative sexual activity;
- Two counts of attempt cause incite a girl to engage in penetrative sexual activity;
- Three counts of engaging in sexual communication with a child;
- One count of making an indecent image of a child (Category A);
- Three counts of making an indecent image of a child (Category C);
- One count of attempting to meet a girl under 16 years of age following grooming.

In February 2024, officers were contacted regarding the welfare of a child and concerns about possible sexual exploitation.

Detectives from the North West Command Unit immediately launched an investigation.

On Monday, 11 March, a 27-year-old man was arrested in south London on suspicion of child sexual exploitation, grooming offences and possession of indecent images. He was charged as above.

Detectives continue to work closely with safeguarding leads from partner agencies including the relevant local authorities to provide support.
