Man charged with murder after man dies following assault in Southwark
A man will appear in court charged with the murder of Raymond Hardinges in Southwark.
On Sunday, 2 August police were called to a report of an altercation at an address in Lucey Way around 00:45hrs.
When they arrived, officers discovered a man, later identified as 53-year-old Raymond Hardinges, with stab wounds. He was treated by the London Ambulance Service before being taken to hospital.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, he sadly died in hospital on Saturday, 29 August.
Sean Riordan, 60 (06.04.1966) of Lucey Way, SE16, was arrested at the scene and initially charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
He appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 3 August when he was bailed to next appear at Inner London Crown Court on Tuesday, 1 September.
He was arrested on Saturday, 29 August following an alleged breach of his court bail and remanded.
After Raymond’s death, Riordan was charged with murder on Monday, 5 October following engagement with the Crown Prosecution Service.
He will appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Friday, 9 October.
In a tribute, Raymond’s family said:
“No family should ever have to experience the pain of losing a loved one in such tragic circumstances.
“We ask that Raymond is remembered for the bubbly, caring person he was and for the love, memories, and moments he shared with those closest to him.
“We will carry Raymond in our hearts every day. He will never be forgotten, and he will always be loved.
“Our family's hearts are truly broken by this unimaginable loss and ask that our privacy is respected as we try to come to terms with what has happened.”
