Man charged with murder following fatal Lewisham stabbing

A man has been charged with the murder of Sanchini Thompson after he was arrested in Scotland following a proactive operation.

Earl Junior Strachan, 33 (29.09.92), of no fixed address, was charged with murder and possession of a knife on Thursday, 23 October. He has been remanded into custody and will be appearing at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court today, Friday, 24 October.

He was arrested in Scotland on the evening of Tuesday, 21 October and transferred to custody in London.

Sanchini , 27, was fatally stabbed on Wednesday, 15 October. Police were called to reports of a stabbing in Rushey Green, Lewisham at 03:06hrs.

Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service, who treated Sanchini for stab wounds. Despite their best efforts, he sadly later died in hospital.

Sanchini's family have been made aware of this update, and continue to receive support.

The investigation remains on-going.
