Man charged with murder following fatal stabbing in Southall

A man has been charged with murder following an investigation by Met detectives.

Police were called at 00:41hrs on Wednesday, 10 June following reports of a stabbing on North Road, near the junction with Dormers Wells Lane.

Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and found two men with injuries.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, a 26-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, having sustained a stab wound.

The man has since been named as Gurbhej Singh. His family continue to be supported by specialist officers.

A second man, in his 30s, also sustained injuries and was taken hospital, but has since been discharged.

On Wednesday, 17 June, Navjot Singh, 20 (03.12.2005) of Waxlow Crescent, Southall was charged with murder, grievous bodily harm with intent and possessive of offensive weapon. He was previously arrested on suspicion of murder on Tuesday, 16 June.

He is set appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 18 June.

Seven men, aged from their early 20s to late 30s, were previously arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. Six have since been released with no further action, while the seventh remains on police bail as enquiries continue.
