Met Police outlines plans in advance of planned demonstrations this weekend

We are aware that violent and disorderly forms of unlawful protests in recent weeks have caused concern and worry for several communities and injured many brave officers across the country.

This Saturday the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) will undertake its 17th demonstration in the centre of London and the Met has a proportionate and risk-based policing plan in place.

Met Police officers have increased their engagement to reassure the public. We have met with leaders from the Muslim community and have visited local mosques and religious buildings to provide advice and listen to concerns, which will continue over the weekend.

The Met has not been informed of any planned protests or demonstrations similar to what was witnessed on Wednesday, however it has sufficient resources and plans in place to deal with every eventuality.

Everyone has a right to peacefully protest, but the Met will not tolerate individuals who use the guise of protest as a means to inflict violence or incite racial and religious hatred on members of the public or officers.

If crimes are committed, our officers will intervene quickly, either there at the scene or in subsequent investigation.

Everyone is welcome in London this weekend, but the Met will not tolerate disorderly behaviour.

The Met have set out a number of conditions and restrictions ahead of planned demonstrations taking place this weekend.

The PSC is conducting a planned demonstration, which will start in Park Lane and end in Whitehall. At the same time, the “Enough is Enough” campaign group is holding a static demonstration on the route of the march which has had a single condition placed upon it, also detailed below.

The PSC demonstration has had three conditions imposed upon it.

A Section 14 condition requires:
Any person participating in the Palestine Solidarity Campaign and Coalition Partners assembly in preparation for the organised procession must remain within the shaded area of the map below (Park Lane southbound carriageway) until such time as the procession commences.

A Section 12 condition requires:
Any person participating in the Palestine Solidarity Campaign and Coalition Partners procession must not deviate from the route shown on the below map.

A Section 14 condition requires:
Any person participating in the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign and Coalition Partners assembly must remain within the shaded area show on the map below. The Palestinian Solidarity Campaign and Coalition Partners assembly must end no later than 4:30pm.

The Enough is Enough assembly has had a Section 14 condition imposed on it: Any person participating in the Enough is Enough assembly must remain within the shaded area of the map below.
