Murder investigation launched after woman stabbed in Edgware

A murder investigation is under way after a woman tragically died in Edgware.

Police were called at around 11:50hrs on Thursday, 9 May to reports of a stabbing in Burnt Oak Broadway.

Officers, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance all attended the scene.

A woman – we have no further details at this stage – was treated for stab injuries. Sadly, despite the best efforts of all the emergency services, she died at the scene.

Enquiries are ongoing to identity and inform her next of kin.

A crime scene remains in place at the location.

There have been no arrests at this early stage and enquiries into the circumstances continue.

Superintendent Tony Bellis, from the North West Command Unit, responsible for policing in Edgware, said:

“I understand the shock and concern this very sad incident will cause. I want to reassure people it will be investigated by a specialist team of experienced homicide detectives, and we will support them in their work to identify and arrest whoever is responsible.

“Local residents will see an increased police presence in the area over the coming days, I would ask the community is patient while officers carry out this vital work. If you have any concerns, please speak to an officer or your local policing team.”

Anyone with information that could assist police with this investigation is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD3105/9May.
