Murder investigation launched in Dagenham

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in east London.

Police were called by London Ambulance Service at around 01:30hrs on Saturday, 20 April, to a man suffering stab injuries in Rothwell Gardens, Dagenham.

Officers attended and their initial investigations quickly led them to a second man suffering critical stab injuries in nearby Flamstead Road. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the 23-year-old man died at the scene.

Officers believe they know the identity of the man. Urgent enquiries are ongoing to inform his family.

The condition of the other man is not life-threatening. He was discharged from hospital and has been arrested in connection with the investigation. The man remains in police custody.

The Met’s investigation is led by detectives from Specialist Crime supported by local policing colleagues.
