Murder investigation launched in Hackney

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Hackney.

Police attended an address in Lansdowne Drive, E8 at about 00:30hrs on Monday, 29 January following concerns for the welfare of the occupant.

On arrival officers found a deceased man inside the address. Enquiries continue to identify and notify his next of kin.

A post-mortem examination held on Wednesday, 31 January concluded that the man died as a result of injuries consistent with an assault.

A murder investigation has now been launched, led by the Met’s Specialist Crime Command and enquiries are ongoing.

Two men, aged 41 [A] and 31 [B], were arrested on suspicion of murder. They were taken into custody where they remain.

A crime scene is in place.
