Officer charged and suspended from duties

A serving Met police officer has been suspended. The officer appeared in court after being charged by Hertfordshire Constabulary.

PC Jake Cummings, attached to Central West Command, appeared in custody at Hatfield Magistrates' Court on Friday, 23 February charged with rape, two counts of stalking, two counts of controlling and coercive behaviour and possession of an offensive weapon.

He was remanded in custody to appear at St Alban's Crown' Court on Tuesday, 26 March.

The alleged offences relate to a single victim and took place when PC Cummings was off duty.

The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed.
