Officer dismissed for failing to declare business interest

A serving officer has been dismissed without notice after reselling driving tests without declaring a business interest.

Officer A attended an accelerated misconduct hearing on Monday, 23 March. The panel found that Officer A had breached the standards of professional behaviour for orders and instructions, discreditable conduct, and honesty and integrity

Between January 2024 and June 2025, the officer engaged in an undeclared business interest, sourcing and reselling DVSA driving tests.

On Wednesday, 28 May, 2025, Officer A was questioned by officers from the Met's Department for Professional Standards. They provided an untruthful account, falsely claiming they made no financial gain from the business.

They will now be added to the Barred List held by the College of Policing. Those appearing on the list cannot be employed by police, local policing bodies, the Independent Office for Police Conduct or His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.

Detective Chief Superintendent Trevor Lawry, who leads policing in the South East area, said: “The officer’s actions fell well short of our standards. They misled the Met regarding the nature of a business they were profiting from.

"We hope that the outcome today will encourage those we employ to take vigilance in their personal lives, and refrain from such dishonest conduct."
