Officers appeal for witnesses after fatal collision in Stanmore

Police are appealing for information following a fatal collision in Stanmore.

On Sunday, 30 August at 23:58hrs police were called to reports of a collision between a car and a bus on Honeypot Lane, Stanmore.

Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the driver of the car, a 25-year-old man, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His next-of-kin have been informed and continue to receive support from specialist officers.

A 44-year-old man, the driver of the bus, was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital. His injuries have since been assessed as life-changing.

Two men, aged 25 and 26, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. A 51-year-old man was later arrested for the same offence. They all remain in police custody.

Acting Detective Inspector Fiaz Janjua, who is leading the Met’s investigation, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the victim at this extremely difficult time.

“While we have arrested two men who are in custody, the investigation remains at an early stage. As we try and build a full picture of this incident, we want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has any relevant information, particularly anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage.”

The road remains closed at the junction of Cumberland Road in both directions.
