Police name 82-year-old killed in Camden

A man who was fatally stabbed at a property in Camden has been named as Paul Ratledge, days after a man was charged with murder.

While detectives believe this to be an isolated incident, they want to hear from people who were near or in West End Lane, NW6 on Wednesday, 4 March or Thursday, 5 March.

Anyone who saw Paul – an elderly, white man with long grey hair – is asked to contact the Met. Those with doorbell or dash-cam during this period, particularly around West End Lane, Cleve Road or Woodchurch Road, are also asked share it with the police.

A murder investigation was launched after officers found Paul at a property in West End Lane, NW6 at around 11:25hrs on Thursday, 5 March. Despite their best efforts, paramedics pronounced Paul, aged 82, dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of death as stab wounds to the neck and heart.

His family are being supported by specialist officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Clarke, leading the investigation, said: "Our thoughts remain with Paul's family at this incredibly difficult time.

"We understand the impact a crime like this can have on local residents and I hope the swift actions of officers offer reassurance to the community. With that in mind, I'd like to thank the first responders to the scene, and my team of detectives who have since worked around the clock to piece together the circumstances surrounding Paul's death.

“We are now looking to hear from anyone with further information. Even small details, such as a brief sighting or noises heard, may assist us in our investigation.”
