Second arrest in Enfield murder investigation

Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Enfield have made a second arrest.

A 42-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Monday, 4 March on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

A 30-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday, 3 March also remains in custody.

An investigation was launched after police were called at 19:21hrs on Friday, 1 March to reports of a man found injured in the communal area of flats in Lockhart Close, Enfield.

Officers responded and found a 66-year-old man with stab injuries. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, he died at the scene.

His next of kin has been informed and while formal identification awaits, we can confirm the deceased is George Eric Rogers from Enfield.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place at Haringey Mortuary on Monday, 4 March.

Detectives believe they know the identity of the man and have informed his next of kin. Formal identification has not yet taken place.

A significant number of enquiries were carried out over the weekend, including house-to-house checks and a forensic examination of the scene. This work continues.

Detective Chief Inspector Laura Nelson, who is leading the investigation, said: "This investigation continues to move at pace with this latest arrest. However, I am still appealing to any witnesses or anyone with information about what happened on Friday evening comes forward to speak to us.

"I am still keen for anyone with a dashboard camera who was driving in Lockhart Close, Derby Road, Lincoln Road, or the surrounding area, to contact us immediately."
