Man who violently attacked woman is jailed for 28 years
A woman who was subjected to a sustained and violent assault has seen her attacker jailed after being supported throughout the investigation by specially trained Met officers.

DS Paul Jackson said: "“Whilst we have a number of active lines of enquiry and are keeping an open mind, evidence gathered so far suggests that the vehicle involved was not racing or performing high speed laps or stunts as has been reported."
Arif Ahmet Alidov, 51 (20.06.73) from Edmonton, was found guilty following a trial at Wood Green Crown Court on 29 January of attempted murder, threats to kill, assault with intent to rob, possession of an offensive weapon, ABH, and strangulation.
The charges relate to an incident in Harrow on 7 April when a man was found seriously injured.
The woman was walking along Firs Lane at around 09:45hrs on Thursday, 8 February when the man, who was sitting in a parked car, exposed himself to her.
Ping Leung Cheng was found injured by a member of the public at the junction of St Andrews Close and Culver Grove on 7 August 2022.
Throughout Saturday and Sunday almost 2,000 officers from the Met and other UK forces will be on duty across central London as part of a major policing operation.
