Teenager charged with terrorism offences
A 17-year-old boy has been charged with 16 offences, including terrorism and possession of explosive substances, after an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing London.
The teenager, who was arrested at an address in south Norfolk on 10 April last year, has been charged with the following offences:
- Two counts of dissemination of terrorist publications, contrary to section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006.
- Five counts of making, having, or controlling an explosive substance with reasonable suspicion that it is not for a lawful object contrary to section 4 of the Explosives Substances Act 1883
- One count of collecting, making a record of, or possessing information/documents likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism contrary to section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000
- Two counts of publishing or distributing written material which is threatening, abusive or insulting contrary to Section 19 Public Order Act 1986 (allegedly distributing flyers inciting racial hatred)
- One count of making indecent images of children contrary to section 1 Protection of Children Act 1978
- One count of possession of a firearm without a valid firearms certificate contrary to section 1 of the Firearms Act 1968 (alleged possession of a homemade firearm)
- One count of damaging property contrary to section 1 of the Criminal Damage Act 1986 (alleged graffiti)
- One count of racially aggravated criminal damage contrary to section 30 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998
- Two counts of blackmail contrary to section 21 of the Theft Act 1968.
The offences allegedly took place in Norfolk between April 2023 and April 2025. The investigation relates to suspected extreme right wing terrorism.
He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 1.
