Two men convicted over murder of Ahmed Ali Jama

Two men have been convicted over the murder of a delivery driver in Camden following an investigation by the Met Police.

Ahmed Ali Jama, 29, was stabbed four times on the Abbey Estate, Abbey Road by a man in dark motorcycle clothing and a balaclava.

Following the stabbing, Met officers worked quickly to identify the masked man as Arlind Hashani, who has been convicted alongside Mohammed Adaw, who ordered his attack.

• Arlind Hashani, 23 (04.05.2003), of Bray Fellows Road, NW3, was convicted of murder and possession of a pointed or bladed article on Tuesday, 2 June at the Old Bailey.
• Mohamed Adaw, 23 (07.09.02), of Ingestre Road, NW5, was convicted of murder on Tuesday, 2 June at the Old Bailey.

They will be sentenced on Monday, 22 June at the Old Bailey.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Clarke, who led the Met investigation, said: "Ahmed Ali Jama was a delivery driver, who had visited his home estate and was talking to an old friend during his shift. He was unarmed and defenceless as he was fatally stabbed by Hashani on the orders of Adaw, Ahmed's cousin.

"Hashani thought he had escaped justice after fleeing overseas, but dedicated detectives tracked him down - working with international partners to bring him to court.

"He and Adaw are remorseless killers. London is a safer place now they are off our streets.

"Our thoughts remain with Ahmed's family, who have maintained a dignified presence throughout the trial, despite hearing the distressing evidence of their loved one's last moments."

The family have asked for privacy at this time.

The investigation into Hashani

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 19.32hrs on Friday, 29 December 2023 to a stabbing in Abbey Road.

Officers responded and found Ahmed with four stab wounds. He was taken to hospital but despite the best work of paramedics and doctors he was pronounced dead at 21.55hrs.

Footage of the attack was captured on a doorbell camera and detectives immediately began to investigate the identity of the suspect.

CCTV from the street showed him arriving on a scooter, and officers trawled through hundreds of pieces of footage to track the movements of the killer and anyone who may have assisted him.

The scooter was traced to a rental company, who provided the details of the man who hired the moped as Hashani. Security video of him at the rental company showed him wearing a black jacket and trousers alongside sand-coloured boots - the same outfit as seen on the attacker in CCTV. Tracking data from the vehicle also placed it at the scene on the date of the murder.

Further enquiries established that Hashani had left the country. Met detectives tracked him to Paris and worked with international partners to arrest and extradite him back to the UK on Thursday, 14 August 2025.

The investigation into Adaw

Footage of the road, viewed by police after the attack, showed Hashani calling someone on his phone. He was heard to say words to the effect of: "I’m with him, I’m on the Abbey, his brother is with me." and "What do you want me to do?”.

At the end of the call he immediately pulled out a knife and ran towards Ahmed, who was unarmed.

Police used phone data to show it was Adaw that Hashani had called ahead of the attack and he was arrested on Thursday, 4 January 2024.

Prior to his arrest, Adaw had visited Ahmed's family at hospital and sat among them as people came to pay their condolences.
