Update on police investigation into murder in Westminster

The investigation into the murder of Kamonnan Thiamphanit in Westminster continues.

She will be referred to as Angela, as per her family's wishes.

A murder investigation was launched after police forced entry to a property in Stanhope Place, W2 at approximately 08:30hrs on Monday, 8 April.

The body of 27-year-old Angela was found inside the address suffering stab injuries. Angela lived at the address.

An inquest was opened and adjourned at Westminster Coroner’s Court on Tuesday, 16 April.

The senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, told the inquest that officers have a named individual as a suspect. DCI Foxwell added that officers have asked the Crown Prosecution Service whether we have sufficient evidence to extradite that person from outside the UK.

Officers will not be confirming this person’s identity, or where it is thought they might be, at this time.

Angela's family have been informed. They continue to be supported by specially trained officers.

Angela, who had dual Chinese-Hong Kong and Thai nationality, had been living in the UK for around nine years, having initially come over to study at university. She worked in property management.

In a short statement, her family said: "We are unspeakably hurt by the loss of our dearly loved one and are sincerely thankful for the relentless efforts of the British police in investigating this tragic event.

"We believe that with the commendable teamwork and dedication of the police, this case will be resolved swiftly, thereby preventing any further innocent victims."
