UPDATE: Teenager charged following fatal stabbing

Detectives have charged a teenager following a fatal stabbing in Newham.

The 16-year-old boy, who is from Newham, was charged on Friday, 30 August with the murder of Imran Maroof.

He appeared at Bexley Magistrates’ Court, and is expected to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 3 September.

Police were called at 19:38hrs on Saturday, 27 July, to reports of a fight in Plashet Park, E7.

Officers attended and found 20-year-old Imran with stab injuries. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he sadly died at the scene.

His family continue to be supported by specialist officers.

Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are investigating.
