UPDATE: Two arrested in connection with Tower Hamlets murder

Two men have been arrested following the launch of a murder investigation in Tower Hamlets.

Abdul Jalloh, 23, was fatally stabbed shortly after 16:00hrs on Monday, 5 August at New Union Close, E14.

On Thursday, 8 August, detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command arrested two men, both aged 18, on suspicion of murder. Both remain in custody at this time.

Chief Superintendent Brigid Beehag-Fisher, who leads policing in Tower Hamlets and Hackney, said: "Even though two arrests have been made I do not underestimate the impact this has had on residents and the local community. We will continue to provide an enhanced policing presence over the coming days."

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Waller, of the Met's Specialist Crime Command, said: “We would like to thank those people who have spoken to officers, but would still like to hear from anyone who was in the area of New Union Close at the time of this incident, or anyone who has any information concerning this murder who hasn’t already spoken with officers.

"No matter how insignificant your information may seem, please do get in touch."

A 16-year-old male [A] who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released under investigation.
