Woman charged with murder of man in Lewisham

A woman has been charged with murder after the body of a man was found at a residential address in Lewisham.

Habiba Naveed, 34 [16.10.89] of Polsted Road, SE6 was charged with murder on Friday, 16 August.

She appeared at Bromley Magistrates Court on Saturday, 17 August where she was further remanded to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 20 August.

A murder investigation was launched, led by Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, following the discovery of the body of a man at a residential address on Polsted Road in the early hours of Thursday, 15 August.

Detectives can now name the victim as 72-year-old Christopher Brown who was from Lewisham.

A post mortem examination found the cause of Christopher’s death to be blunt force trauma.

Habiba Naveed was arrested on Thursday, 15 August on suspicion of murder. She was taken to a south London police station and was subsequently charged as above.

We can confirm that the victim and the woman charged were known to each other and that no other persons are currently sought in connection with this incident.

A crime scene remains in place.
