Appeal for witnesses after stabbing in East Ham
Detectives investigating a stabbing in East Ham have issued an appeal for witnesses.
Police were called at 17:24hrs on Wednesday, 22 April following reports of an altercation involving around a dozen young people near the water fountain in Central Park, E6.
Officers attended and found a 20-year-old man with stab wounds to his abdomen. He was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service, where his injuries were deemed to be non life-threatening or life-changing. He has since been discharged from hospital.
Detectives from the Met’s North East Command Unit now want to hear from anyone who was in the park at the time of the incident.
At this stage, no arrests have been made and the investigation continues.
Detective Inspector Sam Lockstone, who is leading the investigation, said:
“This happened in broad daylight in a popular park. We want to hear from anyone who was in the park at the time and might have footage of the incident to come forward and speak to us.
“While knife crime in East Ham is down by 11 per cent in the past year, tackling serious violence is a key priority for the Met. This was an altercation involving weapons and could easily have ended in tragedy.”
