Arrest made in Michelle Sadio murder investigation

Detectives investigating the murder of Michelle Sadio in Brent have made an arrest.

The 18-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday, 8 January on suspicion of Michelle’s murder – he remains in custody.

Michelle’s family have been updated with this development and continue to be supported by specially trained officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Clarke who leads the investigation said:

“While this arrest marks a significant step forward in this investigation we continue to appeal for anyone with information about Michelle’s murder to come forward and speak to us.

“This was senseless act of violence that resulted in an innocent woman being killed. Michelle’s family continue to grieve and we are determined to ensure those responsible face the consequences of their actions.

“If you can help in any way then please don’t hesitate to contact us.”

An investigation was launched after police were called at approximately 21:15hrs on Saturday 14 December, to reports of the shooting in Gifford Road, NW10, which happened as Michelle and others were standing outside the church following a wake. Officers and London Ambulance Service paramedics attended the scene.

Michelle, aged 44, was found suffering serious injuries – despite the efforts of the emergency services she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two men, both aged in their 30s, also suffered injuries. One remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition; the other man has been discharged following treatment.

The shots were fired from a black Kia Niro with distinctive alloys, with the number plate LA23 XRE. Following the shooting the car was driven to Barnhill Road where it was abandoned and set alight.

Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
