Details of conditions in place for protests on 31 January

Details of Public Order Act conditions in place to prevent serious disruption and/or serious disorder as a result of protests in central London on Saturday, 31 January can be found below:

UKIP protest:

Any person taking part in the UKIP protest on 31 January 2026 must not enter the London borough of Tower Hamlets (the area outlined on the map below).

The organisers have instead announced an alternative proposal, forming up at Marble Arch before marching to Trafalgar Square.

Anyone taking part in the UKIP protest must therefore only form up within the area shaded in red on the map below which is at Marble Arch.


The UKIP march must not set off until 12:45hrs. Anyone taking part must stick to the agreed route shown on the map below which goes along Oxford Street, turning right at Tottenham Court Road, down Charing Cross Road and turning into the North Terrace of Trafalgar Square.


Anyone taking part in the rally which will follow the UKIP march must remain within the area shown in red on the map below, on the North Terrace of Trafalgar Square.

Speeches must end by 15:00hrs and all involved must have dispersed by 15:30hrs.


Central London Anti-Fascists counter protest:

Any person taking part in the Central London Anti-Fascists and affiliated parties’ protest in Whitechapel on Saturday 31 January 2026 must remain within the red shaded area on the map below.

Palestine Coalition protest:

Any person taking part in the Palestine Coalition protest on Saturday 31 January must form up within the shaded area on the map below (Russell Square) until such time as the procession commences along the agreed route.

Any person taking part in the Palestine Coalition protest must not deviate from the route shown on the map below – namely Russell Square, Southampton Row, Kingsway, right onto the Aldwych, Strand, Trafalgar Square and into Whitehall.

The procession must not commence before 12:45 hrs and any person taking part must not set off along the route before then.

Any person taking part in the rally following the Palestine Coalition protest must remain within the shaded area on the map below (Whitehall). Any stage being used for the assembly must be placed in the location shown. Any speeches must end by 17:00 hrs. The assembly must conclude by 18:00 hrs.


Stop the Hate counter protest:


Anyone taking part in the counter protest organised by Stop the Hate must remain within the area shown in red on the map below which is on the Aldwych.

The assembly must not begin before 12:00hrs and must have fully concluded, including the dispersal of participants, by 17:00hrs.


There are also expected to be a number of protests taking place in central London in opposition to the Iranian regime. We will keep the need for Public Order Act conditions under review for those protests and update proactively on X - @MetPoliceUK - as required.
