Detectives issue appeal following fatal collision in Hackney

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 94-year-old man was killed in a collision with a van in Hackney.

Officers were called to the junction of Alkham Road and Cazenove Road in Upper Clapton following a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian at 15.46hrs on Thursday, 12 February.

The pedestrian, who has since been named as Ismail Bham, was taken to hospital but sadly died from his injuries on Monday, 23 February. His family are being supported by specially trained officers.

The driver of the van stopped at the scene. No arrests have been made at this stage and enquiries are ongoing.

Police would now like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or may have CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident.

Detective Sergeant Ed Rulton, of the Met’s Serious Collisions Investigation Unit, said:

“Our thoughts remain with Ismail’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.

“As we try to build up a full picture of the incident, we are appealing to speak to anyone who may have witnessed it - particularly if they have CCTV or dashcam footage.”
