E-fit released of suspect in Islington stalking investigation

Officers investigating reports that a woman was stalked and attacked in Islington have issued an e-fit of a man they want to speak to as part of their enquiries.

On 25 May 2025, a woman in her 20s reported that an unknown man had attempted to gain entry to her property off Hornsey Road, N7.

She told officers that the same man had attacked her in the property’s communal garden the previous day. She reported being approached from behind and a cloth, which had a strong smell, was placed over her mouth. She managed to flee.

Police enquiries were carried out at the time, including CCTV enquiries, but no suspect could be identified and the investigation was closed.

On Friday, 10 April 2026, the woman reported seeing the same man outside her home. She reported seeing him on Saturday, 4 April, Tuesday, 7 April and Saturday, 10 April.

An investigation was launched and extensive enquiries have been carried out by detectives, including CCTV and door-to-door enquiries in the area.

The suspect is described as a black man, who appeared to be in his early 40s, around 6ft in height and was wearing a black jacket which had a Stone Island logo on the arm.

Detective Constable Paul Le Fevre said:

“Since these latest incidents were reported to us, we have carried out extensive enquiries, including working with the victim to create an e-fit picture of the suspect and circulating it to thousands of officers, and reviewing many hours of CCTV footage.

“Despite this, we have so far been unable to identify the suspect in the picture and are now appealing to the public for help. We would ask anyone who recognises the man in the image, or who has information about these incidents, to please get in touch with us.

“We need to trace this man. Any detail you can give us could help identify him.”
