Image released as detectives launch murder investigation into fatal shooting in Enfield

Detectives have issued a CCTV image of a person they would like to speak to in connection with an investigation into a fatal shooting on Hertford Road in Enfield.

On Monday, 19 October at around 21:30hrs, police were called to reports of a shooting at a pub on Hertford Road, Enfield.

Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.

A 35-year-old man was treated by paramedics for gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

CCTV enquiries have identified a person detectives would like to speak to in connection with the investigation. While unclear at this early stage whether this was a man or woman, or if the person is wearing a disguise, detectives are urging anyone who recognises the person in the image to come forward.

No arrests have been made and enquiries remain ongoing. A crime scene remains in place while officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, who is leading the investigation, said: "Our thoughts are with the victim's family and friends at this unimaginably difficult time as they begin to come to terms with this senseless act.

“We are releasing CCTV images of a person we would like to identify and speak to in connection with the investigation as our enquiries progress swiftly.

“We are also particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have CCTV, doorbell, dashcam or mobile phone footage that could assist our enquiries. Even information that may seem insignificant could prove crucial. No piece of information is too small, and I would urge anyone who believes they can help to contact police.”

Chief Superintendent Anna Mccartney, who leads policing in the area, said: “We recognise the concern local people will have and can reassure them that our officers are working urgently to identify and trace those responsible.

“Serious violence has no place in our community, and the Met remains fully committed to tackling gun crime. We are determined to establish exactly what happened and provide much needed answers for those affected by this tragic incident.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting CAD 7050/19OCT26, or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to remain anonymous.
