Investigation launched into suspicious fire

Police are investigating the circumstances of a fire that took place at around 22:53hrs on Wednesday, 24 September in the grounds of a premises in Dingley Road, Islington.

The fire had been put out by staff at the premises before police attended. No one was injured.

The fire is being treated as suspicious. While officers retain an open mind as to any motive, it is being treated as a hate crime.

Officers believe this to be an isolated incident with one suspect and are working at pace to identify them.

No arrests have been made and enquiries continue. If you have any information that could help police, please contact 101 quoting CAD 8549/24SEP.

Commander Hayley Sewart, who is leading the investigation for the Met, said: “We recognise how concerning this incident will be for the local community. This is being treated as a hate crime and we are working at pace to locate the suspect.

“The investigation is ongoing and we urge anyone with information to come forward and speak to police.”
