Man arrested after woman murdered in Brixton

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was stabbed to death in Tulse Hill, Brixton.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 16.59hrs on Monday, 27 October following reports of a man with a knife at a residential property at McCormick House, Tulse Hill.

Officers deployed a taser and the man, 59, was arrested on suspicion of murder, grievous bodily harm and threats to kill. He remains in custody.

Inside the property a 42-year-old woman was found dead with multiple stab wounds. Her family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Chief Superintendent Emma Bond, who leads policing for Lambeth, said: "This is a deeply shocking crime and our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the woman who sadly died.

"Our officers have arrested a man, who remains in custody, and are working at pace to piece together what happened.

"We realise this is particularly disturbing for those living in the local area. Residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the coming days and are encouraged to reach out to officers if they have any concerns."
