Man arrested following death of 82-year-old man in Camden

A murder investigation has been launched after a man in his 80s was found dead at a house in Camden.

A 53-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Officers responded to welfare concerns of an 82-year-old man in West End Lane, NW6 at around 11:25hrs on Thursday, 5 March. Upon arrival, paramedics from the London Ambulance Service confirmed that the man had died. Officers are working to identify and inform the victim's next of kin.

The arrest took place inside the property, within minutes of police arriving on scene.

A post-mortem will take place in due course.

Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart, who leads policing in the area, said:

“A team of detectives are working quickly to establish the full picture surrounding this man’s death.

“At this time, officers are treating this as an isolated incident with no risk to the wider community.

“We ask anyone who was around West End Lane at this time, who may have seen or heard anything unusual, to speak to us.”
