Man charged following fatal collision
A man has been charged in connection with a fatal collision in Aldwych on Tuesday, 18 March.
Police were called to a location close to Kings College London campus at 11:41hrs following a collision involving a van and pedestrians.
Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and sadly a 20-year-old woman died at the scene as a result of her injuries.
She was identified as Aalia Mahomed, a student at King’s College London. Aalia’s family continue to be supported by specialist officers.
Two more pedestrians, a woman and a man both in their 20s, were taken to hospital with serious injuries and have since been discharged.
The driver of the van was arrested at the scene and an investigation launched by the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
On Monday, 1 December, Christopher Jackson, 27 (22.10.1998) of Walton Road, Southampton was charged with causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday 5, January.
